Hello, i own a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q893. The left fan (CPU) is making a rattling noise that's becoming rather annoying. I think the fan blade is hitting something inside the laptop though im not sure since i haven't tampered/opened anything and i have also never mishandled/dropped the laptop.

Yes, i tried flushing it with compressed air and used a mini vacuum that has an extended air-tube already just in case, but the sound is still there. Also, It gets a little louder as the fan spins faster.

The temperatures however of the CPU (and GPU) are unchanged. Still maintaining cool temps from when it was bought (averaging from 45' to 48'). The laptop is only 7 months old, i wouldn't want to send it to the repair center with a 1-2 week repair time just to have it fixed.

Please help. Yes, i am tempted to open it, but would rather avoid it as of the moment.

My fan sometimes makes a motor boating sound [low], but goes away when playing games that run fans at full speed. Possibly try that.

I actually returned my first q8102X and exchanged it because it had the sound. Guessing it's just part of the design. Many users on Toshiba Support complain of this problem; however it is the only problem they have.

    Keep us updated.

Yeah, it might be that the fan is going bad already, but its only been 7 months, so i'm kinda doubting it. Somethings also been bugging me though, i think that it isn't really because of a bad fan, but the vibration of the laptop makes the fan/screw/something go loose inside. It may be it since i always play with Natural Bass enabled at max and lappie vibrates like a boom box. lol good stuff, but annoying if that's the problem.

I think the excessive vibration was the one that caused this. It's only a theory though, but alexmuw and i experience the same thing.

I've been testing it and the sound does goes away a little when i crank up the fan speed. Im going to test the Bass vibration thing too, since it might resolve it somewhat.

Thanks for your quick suggestions/opinions guys, Toshiba forums won't answer any of my questions and posts. This is a breather for me. :) i'll update you soon if anything new turns up.
