    First post greets to all!

In short, is this laptop's performance always throttled or only when not connected to a power outlet in the wall?

    I came across this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/wha...iba-qosmio-x70-abt3g22-asus-g750jw-db7-2.html

Reply #12 said it throttles and doesn't perform as specs would suggest. I'm looking into this because I plan on buying a laptop strictly for gaming at a budget around $1000. The device would be for taking over to friends' houses to play games and would always be connected to a power outlet. I'm only considering a laptop because dealing with lugging my desktop around is becoming too cumbersome as we're meeting more often and some of my friends have limited space. I'm hoping this might be the ticket as everything else I found in my price bracket is a 15" with a GTX 765m?

Games I play mostly: WoW, CS: GO, SC2, LoL, and SWTOR. Also, if the laptop is not completely gimped due to throttling, I'd consider springing for the i7 upgrade should it make for a better gaming experience?

    Thanks!

Oops, I just noticed there is a Toshiba section.

Can it be moved there? Should I post the question there? Or, is it okay to let the question stand?

If you're running on battery, usually a laptop will be throttled down as to not quickly drain the battery or otherwise damage it (if you were running parts on full power).

Personally, I'd recommend a Lenovo Y510p with 1080p and 750M/755M SLI since that'd be slightly more powerful than a single 765M and (personally) I've had nothing but bad experiences with Toshiba's laptops.

@Midnightsun Thanks for moving it to the right place.

@Jarhead Sorry to hear about the Toshiba experiences. Would the Lenovo SLI setup be on par or better than the 770m?

Some say it does. I guess it falls in between the 765M and 770M, depending on game (some games support SLI better than others. It would certainly be comparable, and I haven't hear much complaints about Lenovo's Y series.
