I have always been loyal to Sony when it comes to notebooks, but I came across the R700 from Toshiba and wanted an opinion on it. I posted a thread several months ago about the R600 and everyone said it was junk.

This is a wrong place to post this thread.

One of the main downsides of R700 is it's poor 1366x768, glossy screen.

Also depends what config you want. If you want and SSD, an i7 processor, and > 4gb of ram you're pretty much at the same price as Sony Vaio Z minus the discrete switchable graphics, backlit keyboard, and with a worse screen.

If you want a no-frills ultralight (i5, HDD, 3 gb ram) you can get that for <$1000

    The R700 has a matte screen - more's the pity. I have a R630 with a glossy screen and it's lovely.
