Greetings, Can anyone tell me how to disable the tap on the mouse pad, so I can use the click below it to enter programs? Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Fn+F9 should do it

Thanks for getting back to me. Fn F9 disables the entire pad. I just want to disable the tap on the pad, and use the click below it.

Go into the mouse settings and synaptics properties
should be there, set it to nothing for the tap -
Very Frustrated!!!! Can Anybody Tell Me How To Disable The Tap On The Touch Pad. It Is Very Sensitive, And I Want To Be Able To Scroll On The Pad, And Enter With The Lower Click Buttons. Please Help. All Previous Suggestions Did Not Help. Thanks, Jerry

On mine go to mouse properties>advanced settings>pointer speed and tapping settings (lower right corner)and hit settings. This will bring up detailed touchpad settings and in the middle of the window you can enable or disable tapping. Mine is an Alps touchpad, but I assume it's the same.

I appreciate the info, but the u205 has a different config. I dont think I can disable the tap on the pad without going external.

Right click the synaptics icon on your taskbar, go to Pointing Device Properties. Go the the very last tab, Device Settings. Hit Settings. Hit the + sign under Tapping. Go into "Dual Mode" and uncheck the checkbox in order to disable Dual Mode. I disabled it too because it get's annoying.
Edit: Just reread your post. Do the same thing I just told you except when you get to the settings click "Tapping" and uncheck the tapping box. -

First of all, thanks for all the input. After trying everything suggested, I still cant disable the tap on the pad. I think that this config does not allow me to do it. If you have anymore suggestions, bring them on. Thanks again

I was able to disable tapping until I installed an optional update from the windows update utility. Since this update the settings for the touch pad have changed and I am now unable to disable tapping!!

Hello, Hope this solves your problem. I was having the same exact trouble you were having. Go into your hardrive to this location C
rograms/Apoint2k . There should be an application program named Apoint which looks like a little touchpad. Just click on this to start it. I then copy pasted the icon in to my start up folder to start it when my computer starts and it solved the problem.

Hello, sorry about the typo above. It put that smiley face in there automatically. Its programs/apoint2k located on your C drive.
