I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 Pro laptop and in the last 2 days have been having a slight problem with it, though nothing overly serious.

On the front right of the casing there are fins which is used for cooling and in the inside there is a heatsink. Under the heatsink or above it is a small fan. If I lift the laptop up and look underneath I can actually see the fan at the top front right underneath the casing.

Whats happening is that this fan is coming on every 15 secs, lasts for about 30 secs or so than goes off again and is also a bit ratly. Now I am sure it is the fan, reason is when I place my palm just slightly over the fins I can feel warm air coming out of it.

Basically what is happening is that the fan is coming ON/OFF every 30 secs or so, and this starts to get very annoying.

Any help or advice pls on whats going on?

It`s could be background toolbar programs , I always keep them to a minimum.

The more CPU usage the more the fan will spin.

You should download this free app, it has a startup-manager and will recommend what items to disable if you are not certain.

Also check Task Manger when you notebook is idle and check the CPU usage.
