I know there is a port for an external mic....but it looks like there is a tiny slit near the volume dial....but i can't pick up any built in mic....either it doesn't have it or my laptop mic is defective. Why wouldn't they have a built in mic?

I don't know what model your notebook is, so I don't know exactly if it comes with a built-in mic or not. Perhaps it is referring to the built-in mic jack, not a mic itself.

It would help if you told us what model. My U205 has the mic built in an it works very well.

Yes A100-OFH and no, it doesn't look like it has a built-in mic which I find quite surprising as I thought virtually all of them had it. Regardless, I just can't figure out what the little open slit is to the right of the mic? Maybe they threw in the built-in mic in higher models and just have a universal casing?

not looking at your model, maybe it is the card reader? i bought a p100 and it has a memory card reader slot on the front panel.

negative, the memory card slot is to the left of the mic and headphone jacks. this is a little slit about 2mm wide and 5mm high to the right...i called support and ofcourse they are clueless.
