Has anyone heard anything/got anything in the mail about the lawsuit recently? I filed my claim and saw that the settlement was finalized but I haven't heard back from anyone yet. Anyone else know of anything additional??
Thanks
Matt

Hello,
I have not heard anything either. I have called the law firm haddling the case and have left a meassage. If they call back I will let you know what they say. -
The law office just called me back and said that after the June 24th deadline they will be sending us information on what to do next.
If we do not here anything by the 1st or Second week of July then call them.

I have a toshiba satellite 5005 that I've had to fix already like 4 times.
What lawsuit are you speaking of?
How do I get involved? -

The information for the law firm is in the settlement info at the link above. You just need to apply online. If your computer is part of the claim its serial number will be in the database.
There online application will let you know if it has found it.

HI
Can someone give me the phone no. to contact the law firm. I haven't heard anything from them yet.. I want the no. just in case they don't reach me in time... -
Thanks, I was hoping that they just had to wait until the deadline but this computer is really pissing me off it shuts off after about half an hour and then shuts off about 5 times until it finally stays up for another half hour.

I have the same problem. I write software for a living and for a long time I thought I was writing bad code or I had program misbehaving. Since I kept having other hardware failure, such as a bad hard drive and 2 bad DVD / CD-R I thought that was the problem. Once I found out about the over heating I realized that my other hardware problems might have been caused by them. The $1000 is barely going to cover their costs, however I am pleased with the settlement I am going to buy a new computer.
My Toshiba 5005 got so bad I had to revive an old Gateway PIII 600.
If my computer does not pass the hardware review for the credit then the process is a scam.
Once I get the money I am going to buy a new laptop. I am eyeing the Toshiba Tectra M4. http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cmod.to?seg=HHO&coid=-29325&sel=&rcid=-26367&ccid=1291021
So I guess I am not to upset with Toshiba.

My CD-RW/DVD-ROM is not working either, my burner never did work right, I don't believe it ever burned a CD, but now my it doesn't even read the CD-ROMs anymore, I can't wait to get the money so I can get a new one. I will probably buy a Toshiba again, because at least they admitted that it has a defect and settled it, I am just debating on buying the new P30 or one with a mobile processor, because I want one that has a good graphics card, at least 64MB dedicated. I bought mine at best buy and took it in there twice because I bought their 3 year service plan, but they said it was my fault, I had something misconfigured so they wouldn't fix it, I told that to Toshiba when I filed my claim online and I am just hoping that they give me the $1500 voucher but I don't have any proof because they never fixed it. So we'll see how it turns out. I'll keep in touch and let you know. Later
