Hey I have this pos laptop and the CD burner never has worked right since I bought it new over 3 years ago. Now it doesn't even read the cds. If you put it in the drive, the cd-rom takes off and the light blinks for about 2 minutes or so and then when I click on windows explorer to see the files on the cd it acts like there isn't even one in the drive. Has anyone else had similar problems, do you know if it is an easy fix or what has to be done to fix it?? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thankx

    Matt

It a good posibility your drive is dead and you need to get it repaired (probably not since it's over 3years old) or get youself a new one. You can checkout places like www.UltraDrives.com or www.NewEgg.com as they both sell just the optical drives alone. I'm sure there's other shops out there that will also have these drives in stock. If it's not the drive, the 2 other possibilities that could cause something like this is the system itself (systemboard) or your OS (driver/software conflict/corrption).
