    Hey guys.

I have a bit of a problem and I'm not sure what's causing it. I have Toshiba Satellite A-100 (exact model no. is PSAANC VA505C) running on Vista and I've had this laptop for about 3 years now.

The problem is that it has a tendency to shut down by itself. I have noticed that it does this whenever I'm on battery and I am in Power Saver mode and my processor sometimes goes haywire and goes up to 99-100%. Also, it does this when I'm in High Performance mode. A common factor is that the laptop gets really hot as well (which I've noticed).

I've tried running virus scans and malware scans (I have avast and ad-aware) to no avail so I'm guessing that is the main cause of the problem is the overheating so how do I fix this?

    Thanks for the help! =)

A laptop in PowerSaver mode will run warmer then normal. Becouse the vents. are "running" in power saver mode. Also your CPU downclocks so that can be the problem with high CPU ussage. Also try to clean your fans.
    Hope this helps...

Get a can of compressed air and try blowing the dust out through the vents. Opening it up and blowing it out would be even better, if you know how.

Like Krista said, but don't open it becouse you can lose your warranty. Also don't forget to do it when your laptop is turned OFF and disconnect from power...

Hhhhmmm...I'm not quite sure if my laptop still has warranty since it's over 3 years old. I'll check the paperwork, hehe.

    Thanks! =)

No problem then, just make sure you don't screw up anything in there...
