Toshiba Satellite A100 JH2: Dark spots on lower corners of LCD

    Hi guys,

I never really noticed this problem until recently. Basically, the lower corners of my LCD are slightly darker than the rest of the screen. It looks like when you apply a bit of pressure on the screen and it gets darker.

A buddy of mine suggested that it may be caused by the lcd corner screws that are too tight. He says that over time the screws will loosen and the darkness will fade. The thing is that I've had this laptop since June...

Maybe im being paranoid, but i recently washed my screen with glass cleaner and water...Although I was very careful, its possible that a small amount leaked into the corners. I doubt this is the case since both corners are consistently dark.

Do you guys have the same problem. It's not that bad but you need to look closely to notice it. I might get it serviced at an ASP right before the one year warranty ends. But apparently they use refurbished parts so I might get something worse.

Any suggestions or comments the above?

Sample picture (not mine, but has the same problem):

Yep, the exact same thing happens on my A100-237's screen but I don't bother that much since it's barely noticeable. ;)

This is not the same thing as the "dithered screen" problem though.
    Its hardware related...

Actually I tried to bend the screen in different directions and noticed that with less pressure on one corner, the darkness fades. So, I believe that the problem is caused by the LCD plastic frame being attached too tightly. Hopefully within time it will loosen.

    Anyone else have this problem?

Yes I know it's not the same problem as the dithered screen (obviously).
What is happening on the laptop screen in your sample pic, is happening to my laptop's screen as well, but to a lesser extent( The pic might exaggerate the problem). The bottom corners of the screen are a bit dark. Also if it is any help, I noticed this on my flatmate's acer laptop screen too.

not only have i noticed this on over a dozen Satellites that I have owned, but also with HP, Acer, etc. I don't know what causes it, but it's definitely not just your screen...it's normal...so live with it.
