    Hello all,
I just bought a new Satellite A105-S4134 and had some trouble burning CD-Rs. So I spent a few days searching around the internet until I found what was wrong, so I'm just posting this here for any one in the future who may have a similar problem.

When trying to burn a CD-R it would always say "place a blank disk in the drive" not matter what burning software I used. DVDs burned fine. The drive is a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841s. I found out this drive is very picky about what it burns to and it apparently didn't like my Sony CD-Rs. So after more searching to try and find the most "compatable" CD-Rs, I settled on Maxell CD-R pro. But only the ones made in Japan, not Taiwan. So I popped one in and a few minutes later a brand spankin' new audio CD popped out.

I'm sure other brands will work but I'm not about to waste more money trying to find them at the moment since I only burn CDs for my girlfriend so she can listen to anime sound tracks in her car. I use me MP3 player for that. ;)

If anyone else has experince with this please post your experiences with what media works or doesn't work.

    Thanks

The Made in Japan, usually a sign of high quality blanks, CDs are probably Taiyo Yudens which are the best blanks.

thanks for the post I wasted hours in trying to burn a CD, also a Sony brand, will try the Maxell next, any idea why this nonsense occurs? No protection for the consumer again.

Wow, I finally come accross another A105 owner. I was beginning to think I was the one of few on this forum.

What CPU, chipset and Wi-Fi module do you have?

    I have the mobile 945GM with Wi-Fi G, Intel 3945ABG and want to use a newer Intel 4965AGN Wi-Fi N.

Can anybody confirm if and why not if this will work? I am told by some that it has something to do with the 945GM chipset to not support Wi-Fi N via PCI-E sloe onboard.

well the Maxell route failed so I rang Toshiba, must be the laser he said, send it in for repair, tec guy also said he used Imation discs, one last try so I bought some Imation discs put one in and yes perfect copy, I now have one hundred and thirty unusable CD,s, no mention that Toshiba will only cope with some media, hope this is of use to other Toshiba users, may also waste some time and write to the company.
