Hi. I'm comparing the Toshiba A135-S2276 and the A135-S2246. They are very similar, different processors (S2276 a little faster?) and no DVD WR. The S2246 is a little cheaper, about $70. I'll be adding 1GB RAM no mater which one I get. I'd really appreciate any input. Amazon has lots of good reviews on the 2246 and a few on the 2276. The main complaints are Vista, ans I plan to get rid of that and install XP Pro. I'm found similar XP machine to the 2276 so when it comes time, I can hopefully find the drivers. I'm looking for similar 2246 machines to find the XP drivers for that as comparison.
    Thanks!!

I own the S2246. With the extra gig of ram it will run fine. However many people are having terrible time trying to get all the drivers and hardware woking in windows XP. I would recommend if you are adding the gig of ram leave Vista and don't haggle with Windows XP driver woes.

I purchased mine and replaced the ram with 2GBs and then proceeded to upgrade the processor to T2500 2.0GHz Core Duo. With the Celery processor and the upgraded ram my system ran just fine in Vista.
here is the post about vista to XP in the s22x6

I own a s2276 and if you are planning to have xp or dualboot stay away from it (and I guess from low-end toshibas) . Its not only the drivers, but it requires a hard-reset every 2 days ,function don't work on xp. simply the lamest keyboard layout and other few issues( acpi, overbright crap screen).
