My brother is being forced to purchase the Toshiba Satellite A200 as part of his teaching degree at a university that shall remain nameless. He's wondering what (if any) games he'll be able to play on this thing.. here's what he knows for the specs...

Not very impressive, eh? There are no upgrade options. He has to buy this laptop directly from the university.

So what I'm wondering is two things...

    1. Will this play much of anything (Half-Life 2? Company of Heroes?)?
    2. How upgradeable is it? Can you add RAM to this thing? What about a graphics card?

If anybody could answer these questions, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

HL2(aswell as most source games) can run on low setting at a dv7 level

Here are some screen shots of various games you can play with the GMA 950(Intel Integrated 945)

You can not upgrade integrated graphics
    upgrading Mobile video cards

You can upgrade the ram to 2gb(technically 3gb+ but that is only with 4gb installed). You will need DDR2-533(PC2-4200/PC2-4300) 200pin Sodimm.
Look at the Hot Ram deals thread for great prices on ram

Thanks. I know you can't upgrade integrated graphics but I was just wondering if maybe there was an empty spot somewhere in the laptop that would fit a real graphics card. Oh well.

So it sounds like you can play some stuff.. I'm guessing the 2 gigs of RAM would be a good idea if you wanted to play anything, though.
