Hi!
Notebook model - Toshiba Satellite A200 (PSAE0E-02G012G3)
1) Hard drive already have one bad block and 2) Windows Vista Home basic were to slow - decision - go to Windows XP.
On Toshiba site has been said - you must have this bios for xp... ok, let's do that as said from windows, that utility started and without any question starts the job - ups, wtf is going on !? - stupid utility, of course utility can't found where is the new bios file and don't ask where is it...
Of course i closed by force that stupidity and ... yes, of course logically that thing has turned off keyboard, works only touchpad.... try again, nothing.
100% - bios is not touched, but keyboard is off ... hm, let's try to shutdown... to long... and there i make a big mistake (i know) - pull of batterry - how stupid can i be, yes yes yes ...
And there is problem:
Notebook starts (power on works) with black display, after two clicks nothing happens, keyboard keys (Esc, F2, F12) of course don't work.
I think - there is 1) keyboard is off 2) hdd is gone, ok let's change this 3) bios must be ok, because he wasn't pached
Big question - how to turn on this .... keyboard.... ??? (to start from cd)
.

If it's still under warranty you should see if you can get it replaced since it is defective (even though they may not like that).
1) so you ran the flashing utility and it started automatically. Did it start flashing actually? (Should have been a popup window saying 'erasing block x of X... writing block x of X, etc').
2) If it did that, did you stop the program/turn off/restart the computer while it was flashing?
3) Now the notebook gets power but the display won't turn on, right? Can you see the POST screen (on mine the background says Toshiba in the center with a little Intel logo at the bottom right.)
4) If you can't see the screen I was just talking about, see if you can still get into booting a CD (try putting in an XP, Vista or Linux CD to see if it'll boot)
5) If nothing happens it's highly likely that you bricked your laptop. There's a reason that they say to be extremely careful when you flash your BIOS and never remove power. Now you need to fess up and say you flashed it and get them to replace the MB (which you'll probably have to pay for) or buy a new laptop (if you do this you could probably part out your old laptop to make some money back). -
Yes, i'm ready to try that move ....
Nope, it didn't start flashing actually (i think so, because utility can't found new bios file; in the input field of utility stays filename bios.rom because that utility don't let me put there actual filename), no popup window saying 'erasing block ...' (maybe it's only somehow blocks that bios... hmmmm).
no, no, no, of course no .... (only if that little utility don't say and show nothing, but actually do that job..... grrrr)
Yes, notebook gets power, two clicks i think from hdd and stil black screen, no POST screen, i can also turn notebook off, but - keyboard don't work ..
I try boot from some cd, but keyboard don't let me press some of that keys F12 or others and notebook don't boot from cd...
Oh, no ... i can't believe that this flashing utility started job without double question me about that dangeorus routine; even don't ask once; end even don't show that flashing progress has started... i wan't believe...
maybe my stupid move of pulling off batery did the dirty job ... -
Doesn't really matter since a new HDD will likely not make a difference.
I've noticed that it seems like it's frozen (window may blank out, not responding, etc) for a while before it starts/while it does the flash.
Do you have a USB keyboard, maybe that will help to check this. Same with another monitor.
Right, it is stupid that it doesn't let you confirm. However, you NEVER pull the power when flashing.
Hopefully it's not bricked but that's my >99% prediction. -
Notebook returned - mb changed by warranty service ...
Bios ok, let's install windows xp...
