I happened across this new Satellite model today, the A305D-S6886, and it has some interesting features. For $899 (ToshibaDirect.com), it appears to offer a lot of bang-for-the-buck!

This model is the first Toshiba to utilize ATI Hybrid CrossFire X2 technology- the integrated graphics processor and discrete ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3470 work in tandem to maximize graphics performance. The spec sheet lists the same AMD M780V chipset all other AMD-based Toshiba models, so the IGP is also the same Radeon Mobility 3100 (rather than the HD 3200). Regardless, the 3D performance improvement is claimed to be more than 50% compared to the HD 3470 alone.

The standard processor is the 2.1GHz AMD Turion X2 (RM-72), likely chosen over the 2.1GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra (ZM-80) to keep costs down. The primary difference in the two is the size of L2 cache, the RM-72 has 1mb compared to 2mb for the ZM-80.

The display included is a run-of-the-mill WXGA (1280x800 resolution). At the price, it's unrealistic to expect a higher resolution display...but an optional (extra cost) upgrade would be nice.

Other features included are 4GB of DDR2-800 (PC6400) memory, 320GB Hard Drive, Wireless-N, FM Tuner and 9-cell Battery.

It would be nice if Toshiba used the HD3200 instead of the HD3100. I don't think that it costs THAT much less to use a HD3100, unless they are getting a super discount from AMD or something to get rid of the crappy 3100s.

Nice find, lets see find some benchmarks.

Kind of expensive I think. For that amount I can buy a dedicated card. I don't care about battery life at all.
