I have a Toshiba Satellite A45-S250 for several years and I have never been able to get the DVD burner to burn.

The OEM DVD burner that came with this laptop:
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D ATA Device

I can successfully burn CD's and read DVD's but I can't burn DVD's. When I burn CD's I see the busy light on the burner light up. When I try to burn DVD's any burning program will say that it is burning but the busy light is not lighting up and the DVD isn't actually burning.

I have never been able to the DVD burner to work. I reserched this on Google and I've seen many other owners with the same problem. Anybody with this model can offer me some insight on how I could get this to work or if the DVD burner is just defective and not working. Thanks for any help. :)

Can you set the burn speed in your burning program? The OEM burner burns at 2X. If your burning program is default at 4X or 8X, it could cause a problem. There is a free burning program ( http://www.imgburn.com/) that lets you set your burn speeds. It might be worth the time to try.
