I am contemplating buying either A500-17x or L555-10R, but being new models, there are hardly any reviews on them. So I was wondering whether anyone here has bought the same models. The specs are alright to me but I am bit concerned about the heat issues and how Toshiba laptops handle it, as I haven't owned anything manufactured by Toshiba ever. Hope Toshiba owners here could help me make my decision. :)

    The specs are as follows.
    A500-17x 16.4 1366 x 768 laptop
    Core 2 Duo P7450
    4 GB DDR 3 RAM
    1 GB Geforce GT 230M DDR3 GPU
    Harman Kardon speakers
    USB Sleep-and-Charge
    HDD 3D Impact Sensor

    L555-10R 17.3 1,600 x 900 laptop
    Core 2 Duo P7450
    4 GB DDR 3 RAM
    1 GB ATI Radeon 4650 DDR3 GPU.

Well what's the price difference? Also. Im not sure on this but I believe the 4650 us better than the 230M. Dont quote me on that. Hopefully someone will be able to back me up or tell me I'm wrong. The 4650 is what is in my laptop right now and I have the A500. It's a good, sturdy laptop. Another thing that may help you with your choice. Are you looking to carry it around? The 17.3 inch would be a pain to carry seeing how I get annoyed carrying around a 16" screen.

Thanks Whatisamegan for your input. You are right when you say that 4650 is better than 230m, not by much though, according to notebookcheck. I intend to use it for work which may need carrying around, and probably for gaming as well. For your question about the price, both are quoted at £699. For mobility, I guess a 16 inch is better than 17.3. Thanks again. One more question, how hot does the laptop get whilst running mulltiple processes?

EDIT:You don't have to answer that, I just found the thread you'd started on A500-ST6621 :)
