    Hey everyone!!!

My nephew has a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170, & is now looking to see what he can upgrade on it.

I'd assume standard upgrades like hard drive are possible, but not sure if RAM, CPU, & Video (doubtful) are possible.

He's into his music, he claims it has really good speakers & sound quality. He's prepping to start college, but also looking to improve his gaming possibilities.

    Any thoughts?

Here's the spec sheet for that laptop: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellite_A665-S5170.pdf

I would say the GPU is not upgradable [it has integrated graphics]. He can probably play titles older than 6-7 years on low settings [good example: Half Life 2, CS Source, etc..].
It has SATA-II, so any SATA-II drive should work. Spec sheet says max 8 GB ram.
As for the CPU, I looked up similar A665 models, and the CPU went from the i3 to the i7 quad; so that's a possibility [1st generation i-core only, HM55 chipset. Example: i7-740QM].

That Satellite does have Harman/Kardon speakers, so that would explain the above average sound :)

    Good luck

Thank you, Alex... That's about on par with what I had thought, but having never had a Toshiba rig, wanted to make sure.
