    Hi,

I've been given a friends Toshiba Satellite L350 to look at. The issue is, it wont power on with or without the battery powered on.

The main lead is detected with a green light, as is the battery with the orange charging light. If you press the power button, the indicator lights flash but it doesn't power up. No fans, no screen, nothing.

I started by stripping the laptop down, and reaseating all cables, no change. So I ordered a replacement motherboard from someone on eBay with good feedback who said the motherboard worked fine. I fitted that, and the same issue occured, lights flash on then off immediately when the power button is pressed.

I then stripped the laptop down, removed EVERYTHNG from it, except from

    • Power Jack cable inpuit into motherboard
      CPU
      Heatsink & Fan
      Power switch

Everything else was removed/disconnected, but the issue still occurs. I'm at a loss, I was sure the issue was the motherboard.

Any suggestions? I've searched the forum, and google but found nothing. I'm doing this for a friend, and after spending £70 on a replacement motherboard, I'm worried about chucking more money at it to find the cause. See below a picture of the motherboard:

Note: The above is an example picture, I've got all the external cables + WIFI/Modem cards disconnected as stated above.

In my head, the next thing to try is to test the Power jack with a volt meter, but I've no idea how to use a volt meter :( I guess that will say if their is enough juice going to the motherboard.
If I take the CPU out with the laptop still power on? I guess that could be causing the issue ??

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry I cannot offer any help. It seems I have a similar problem with the same laptop, except that my fan does receive power at startup, however, the screen remains off and not much else seems to be running.

I was planning to buy a replacement motherboard but read your post and am now thinking otherwise. Unfortunately, I do not know where to go from here and look forward to any replies to this thread or hear any updates from you.
