Hello! New to the forum, and I was wondering if you guys can help me answer a few questions regarding the L505/S5983.

I want to buy this computer for my sister, to use for college, as well as playing her Sims 3. The guy from Best Buy told me to look at another computer besides the L505 saying that playing the Sims 3 on this laptop would be choppy and that the graphics card won't be able to handle playing the game and that I should get a laptop with the Intel processor and recommended the Asus that they have @ the store going for 499.99 even though it only has the Intel GMA graphics card to offer.

Is this laptop good enough to handle playing the Sims 3? Looking at the specs, I think it can handle my sister's basic needs, but I'm just unsure about her being able to play her game. The guy from best buy was not helpful at all and did not even know it has an ATI graphics card. It's either this laptop, the Asus laptop or the Gateway NV 5270u that I was also considering.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The guy's probably right, the ATI Radeon Mobility 4100 in this laptop is limited to 350 Mhz clock speed and the GPU is forced into 64-bit memory access mode (instead of the 128-bit mode that the ATI Radeon Mobility 4200 uses).

A slightly higher end Satellite L505D model will have the much better ATI Radeon Mobility 4200 in it.
