I am trying to get my hand on one of these. So far Most of the stores still dont have it in stocks yet. Pretty much waiting for it to be available.

I would really like to know the specs and setting of the 7900GS. core and ram clock speeds, and 3dmark scores. I am afraid this may be a heavil neutered card.

    Found some specs on the 7900GS;
Thermal Design Power (TDP) of the Go 7900GS is only 20 Watts! With ATI's Mobility Radeon X1600 (12 pixel pipelines) having a TDP of 17W

7900GS hasnt announce by NVIDIA yet. Toshiba just went ahead and announce it. So pretty hard to find information about it especially 3dmark05 score.

From what I have read, nVidia decided to forgo the announcement and just let Toshiba do the release.

Yeah, Kinda strange. Can't even find a single reference to the GS on nVidia's site even. Who knows, maybe Toshiba jumped the gun.

Yeah, i really curious about the peformance vs x1600. It seem to me that X1600 might be slower but save energy though

I doubt it - Dell/Alienware, Sager, and other gaming rig makers will definately want to get their hands on this card, espeically if Nvidia releases a GTX version.

That is possible, but who know if they are releaseing a GTX model. Its specs are still pretty impressive and with the 90nm architecture and the power comsumption it is quite nice.

I'm almost certain Nvidia is going to release something more high-end than the GS (which still, BTW, is a super-fast GPU). Maybe a GT version at the least.

yeah, but my 30 days on the HP are up next monday and nobody has got a good (unbiased) look at this thing :( - so i'll probably be sticking with the nx9420. it is a great rig after all. the expresscard slot and the DVI port would have been nice though... always second (and third) guessing with new rigs!

This model DOES NOT HAVE bluetooth! No support for bluetooth!

I don't know what is more tragic: lack of DVI or lack of BLUETOOTH.

I consider any laptop without both to be GARBAGE.

Ok the missing bluetooth may be true but if you read the spec pdf file, right under ports it specifies DVI-D. Last time I checked that meant DVI support but I may be wrong :D

But here is the real question. How many people out there really use bluetooth? I know some use it for the mouse and to connect to their phones but what is the real world number of users who even know how to properly use bluetooth?

yeah, it's the mouse thing mainly for me (graphic design). then file transfers over a bluetooth network between devices. then headphones. i could live without it, but appreciate having it as an option... just like i'd appreciate DVI and expresscard 54/34! i figure at 2K+ all these guys should be putting-in ALL the options  .

    Hello All,

I came to this forum by way of a google search. I should be getting my hands on one of these in about 2 weeks. I will try to post pics and some initial impressions the moment I turn it on.

As for bluetooth I was a bit impressed but not distressed it doesn't include it. If you read the specs you don't even get a case with it or whatsoever. The set up is quite simple but if you ask me it delivers what you want: A desktop replacement good for gaming and working.

I looked at the P105 at compusa (not the S921) but they all have the same general layout. so let me ask you this, who had the bright idea to put speakers on the front and facing up, right where your wrists are when you are using the keyboard. I mean come on people, whith all the smart people designing this stuff, they just cant seem to come up with a perfect build. Their engineers should visit these forums once in a while and take point of all this. Oh and not to talk trash about Toshiba, but I also tried out the HP dv8000t and well. Toshiba has more keyboard flex, and more screen distortion (when pressing on the lid). Oh well, I ordered my P100 already and not chaning my mind (even though they delayed the build date by a week again, grrr). Toshiba please do not let me down :)

Ah, the dreaded speaker postioning. Most all new notebooks have the speakers in that postition, with only a few execptions. I guess they don't think that people listen to music while typing or expect you to buy externals.

I will probably get my hands on P100 in a couple of days, but that is the Europen mark for the laptop, so I dont know if it is the same as P105?

P100 is very similar if I remember correctly and comes with either a 7300go or you can upgrade to a 7600go (in the us market).

Good review here (just a small warning it will take you to NBF) on the Toshiba Satellite P105-S921. Sadly no pics yet.

    7900GS specs are
    256bit memory interface
    375Mhz Core clock
    500Mhz Mem clock
    7 vertex pipes
    20 pixel pipes

    7600go specs
    128 bit memory interface
    450 core clock
    500 mem clock
    5 vertex pipes
    8 pixel pipes

Will be considerably slower than the 7900 due to the memory interface bus and the trimmed down pixel and vertex pipes, but it should still perform admirably.

The 7600 Go should slot between an ATI X1400 and X1600 in terms of performance.

Shortime lurker with his first post on the lovely P105 top model. I Just picked one up and I am very pleased. Coming from Compaq and then Hp models this is my third Pc lappy and there is alot to love. The weight is very comparable to my hp ze4101 which died from the DC plug coming loose from the mainboard. The footprint is similar except it is longer. I'm glad this one has a proprietery plug that seams immediatly like a better quality part. The keyboard seems of better quality than the Hp/dell parts I have scene but I am somewhat bothered by the halfsize keys in the dot and forward slash as well as small F keys compared to the G15 I use for desktop gaming. The screen is very vibrant and the color seams true although I have to admit no background in any photgraphy or videophile hobbies. Its not as solid as it could be though. You can get lcd waves just by pressing twisting the panel in a minimal fashion. My only other gripe is the touchpad. I assume most will be gaming with an external pointer which would be a necessity as the pad is small and in the first hour I have had to look every time to find it. It seams like something is missing with all the real estate under the mosly full keys. I am off for the weekend. Hopefully Toshiba can find a good market share with this gamers model.

One last thought "The Heat is Sweet" I am a large guy at 270 6'3" and this is still useable as a laptop to me. The heat factor is easily tolerable and as long as the left side clear I have had no discomfort as my friends have reported on silimlar speed Macbooks.

Why not buy the customized version from the Toshiba web site & you can choose to have bluetooth in it??

I think you are thinking of the P100 that you can customize. The P105 can't be customized with the 7900GS video card.
