    Toshiba Satellite P105-S9312

Start the computer, and I get the Toshiba logo with dotted red vertical lines in groups of about four.

Next, it displays the Windows XP logo with dotted yellow vertical lines in groups of about four.

Next, it shows gashed dotted horizontal lines in a few different colors.

Finally, screen goes blank. Black and nothing else, hard drive is still spinning, lights still on but nothing being displayed.

This is not my computer but a friends and they say it is out of warranty. Any help on a fix or even a possible cause for this problem would be much appreciated.

Can you plug an external monitor in and get something?

I get "no signal" when plugged into an external monitor. I tried taking out each stick of RAM individually and testing, but got the same result. I think the graphics card needs to be replaced.

Can someone point me towards a tutorial on tearing down this particular model?

Also, how do I know what other graphics card, other than the original, I can use as a replacement?
