    Hi there!

I posess a Toshiba P15 since a couple of months and have been very satisfied with it.
In the last few weeks I had really bad problems. There's a Mat****a CD-R/DVD-RAM Multi built in. The problem is that it doesn't read normal CD's or DVD's properly, nor does it burn any CD's or DVD's. I need no open and close the CD bay several times before the CD is being read. When I'm trying to make any backup CD, there's always a failure in burning.I looked it up on the manufacturer's site, they've said to disable the direct copy function in windows xp which I did, but it didn't change a thing. I have also installed the newest drivers for the device, and looked up for conflicts within my hardware, but there isn't!!!?? What can I do?
Next problem is, that my USB ports do not work anymore, it's really strange. There's power on them (e.g. the optical mouse lights up when plugged in) but xp does not recognize any device plugged into any USB port. I've already fixed all chipset drivers and downloaded the newest ones, but nevertheless it still doesn't work. So I wrote to Toshiba again, where a technician told me if I had winxp sp2 installed to deinstall it for there might occur a conflict between sp2 and the USB drivers. So i deinstalled sp2 but it still doesn't work.
I spent the last days on trying to fix the problem, but it looks as though i can't manage.
I'm wondering if there's anybody out there who is experiencing, or has experienced the same problems.
Anybody can hel???! Would be great.

    Best Wishes from Austria, greetZ

I'm thinking you need to send in your notebook for repair. Your issues sound a little more extreme than a basic driver failure.
