TOSHIBA SATELLITE P25-S526 - CPU FAN NOT RUNNING IN WINDOWS

All three fans run at self-test POST startup for 5 seconds.
Center fan (CPU fan) does not run in Windows.
Right and Left fans run in windows some what slow,
they start and stop depending on temperature when using AC.
These 2 fans seem to be OK.
I sometimes hear clicks when fans are starting.
It is the center fan that doesn't run in Windows.

When it gets hot, I thinks CPU runs slower.

I removed fan case cover & cleaned fans with dust blower,
replaced fan case cover then vacuumed it, "believe it" at car wash.
Looks like center heatsink is clean.

    Toshiba Power Management Utility
Cooling Method = Max performance mode.
I updated Toshiba Console, Controls, E-Key,
Power Management Utilites and Software Upgrades.

Tried SpeedFan, Memory and CPU Observer, MBM 5 and Notework Harware Control
software; they do not detect fans nor can they control the fans speed.
Fan.exe does not seem to work.

SHOULD I BUY A NEW CENTER CPU FAN?

I think the part number is K000006560.
Is that a correct part number?

    BIOS shows no fan adjustment.
Would BIOS flash update make center fan run in windows?
    Is it safe to flash?

    Win xp sp3
    Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
Bios Version 2.00 release date 6/29/2004
    Video Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200
    Seagate HD ST9120822A stays within 27C - 50c temp (actually at 38c - 45c)
I use my machine 13 hours a day.

The fan on Toshibas never runs unless CPU is under actual load.
When CPU is under light load, it just dissipates heat passively and stops fans as it sees fit.

So unless you having actual problems with CPU overheating, you should not worry about it.

Try to run some CPU-intensive application, and see if fan will kick in after a while. Do a CPU benchmark and temperature check, and see if it runs very hot or slower than it should.

    Thanks
Any suggestion as to a CPU intensive app that can stress it.

    Orthos, Prime95

HWMonitor; RMClock to monitor temps and undervolt if possible.

    Thank you folks.
I ran Orthos and stressed the CPU, after 6 min the cpu fan started.
It would stop after a while.
I guess this proves that the CPU fan works' properly.

Because my machine does not appear to have sensors for CPU or MB temp and fans RPM, I did not use HWMonitor.
When I get the time I will back up the drive and try to lower the multipliers.

Thanks again for your prompt assistance.
    JJ
