    Hi all

Am new to this site but looked like a great place to start as the Toshiba forums are not that good, anyway the problem I have is described below.

The system has 4 gig of ram and is running Win7 64 bit.

When the system starts up and you move the mouse to the round windows logo in the bottom left corner as soon as it opens in the search bar a row of forward slashes enters in the empty bar with no user input what so ever.

//////////////////////////////////////////// Until you backspace thru them you can't access the search function or your programs. Programs normally won't open either at this stage.

I have run cc cleaner / Spybot and Eset Nod32 all of which indicate no problems.

I have tried almost everything I can think of including re-installing mouse and keyboard drivers disabling numerous Toshiba bloatware to no avail. Just wondering if there is something I'm missing like a key somewhere?

Funny thing is if you use the Windows key on the keyboard the problem is not there and works normally. Have tried turning off the trackpad a different mouse as well and no difference.

    Anyway your thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Search area I'm talking about:

    Hi there

this sound more like a windows issue than a hardware fault perhaps? if you have tested all the hardware and its still doing it i suggest going over to the windows 7 forums and posting up in the technical section there too

Thanks for the reply, going to have a look today and possibly look at setting a restore point or worst case a format because I have run out of options from what I know.

Thanks for the reply (Didn't work either) .. have tried everything I can think of now including a format - a different hard drive and the issue continues for me. Kind of rules out the Windows install as it has had a fresh install on the original drive and also another drive as well ?

Not sure where to find the drivers for the Laptop as the Toshiba website doesn't appear to have the model available, might have to call them.

Do you have a stuck key or faulty keyboard, maybe it`s the / key.
