    My STORY! :) :)

    Laptop Spec:
    Toshiba Satellite Pro L100
    1.6 Ghz Celeron
1.12 GB RAM (ORIGINALLY 256 ram)
    40GB HDD
ATI RADEON EXPRESS 200M 256 Shared (Believe me, I know now)
Direct X 9.0c (installed as part of SP2 August 2006)

I bought this laptop in good faith from Komplett.co.uk (£400) and I thought it was a good buy for gaming since it was ATI (now having read all the stuff on this site i think otherwise)

However, I installed Painkiller Battle out of hell, and Fifa 2003. Both hanged hard after about 10 seconds, in exactly the same way.

First I reduced the graphics settings, to something so ridiculous I was practically looking at 1 moving pixel and i think i could make out a gun of some sort but i thought it was a welly after a while.

    No Joy. :(

Then I ran DXDIAG Direct3D test (all other DXDIAG tests ran fine), and the same thing happened the result is below:

    followed by hanging....

Anyway Toshiba  recommends reducing Vertical Sync to Always Off if you have scrambled image - which I did.
The image was still scrambled, and when starting a game, the game still appears scrambled, and then hangs. DXDIAG Direct 3D test scrambled still!

I thought the game hanging was game related, so I downloaded lots of patches and so on and changed settings - same thing happening. I also installed FIFA 03,NBA Live 03 and it does the same thing. So its not a game issue.

So i went a bit mental and put all the settings on the Omega control panel to default, and low and behold Painkiller runs fine (good graphics, good gameplay smooooooth) for about 10 seconds (800 x 600 with most settings on)
! THEN HANGS after about 10 seconds !

i did DX DIAG again Direct 3D test and this time the image is not scrambled :D (settings higher), BUT it still hangs  and I have to reboot laptop using power button. Sometimes it does scramble regardless of whether vertical sync is always on or always off but tends to scramble more when I reduce the settings (i.e vertical sync to Always Off, and graphics 640 x 480 or lower)

How could this happen to me! HOW!!!!! I love toshiba I love the fact they make DVD players and Laptops and TVs and now even mobiles! My trust has fallen.

Can someone please help! !!!!!!!!!
