Anyone has this laptop? I found it for about 500$ and I'm attracted by battery life of 10h, but I've never been a fan of Satellite quality.

It's the cheaper version of the Toshiba Tecra r840 [Tecra = Business class Toshiba]
To differentiate the differences between the two, please see the following links:

    Satellite r845
    Toshiba Satellite® R845 Laptop Series

    Tecra r840
    Toshiba Tecra® R840 Laptop Series

I would expect similar quality to the Tecra [should be same body/chassis; carbon-fiber mesh body], but without all the bells and whistles that the Tecra includes.

    Good luck

I have a portege r835 with 6 cell 66Wh advertised, it actually had a 63Wh capacity. Anyways, the average idle power is about 8W. 63/8=7.8 hours.
That R845 also looks to be using similar battery 66Wh advertised, so I don't think it can't be far off from my R835. Probably just a little bit less since it has a 1 inch larger screen. So I think it will last at least 7 hours.

Build quality should be great since they just take off some parts like docking port from the business class model. The only thing I wouldn't like on the r845 model would be the screen resolution of 1366*768. It's kind of low resolution for a 14". Actually kind of low for a 13.3" too, but I'm getting over it since it was such a low price.

This model was sold at Staples for as little as $450. Overall, not a very impressive notebook and not of the same apparent quality as the R835. I thought about it last summer and quickly rejected the R845.
