My laptop is a toshiba a205-s7464 with an intel centrino core 2 duo t5250 processor. I already ordered more RAM, but I was told by tech support that I cannot even change the processor out in this model... Is this true? If so, I'm going to go change this out (still in return period) for one with at least a 2.0 ghz processor model...

really love the laptop, would recommend it to anyone, as long as they aren't a gamer or use autodesk...

I'm pretty sure that you can, look at the first or second sticky in the Toshiba forum, there are disassembly guides.
Why don't you get a Toshiba that has a 2.0Ghz in the first place, it can be quite costly to upgrade.

I will, I will probably go from this model to an $1100-1250 model. my biggest reason for this model was th HD DVD player and the price, I just didn't put any thought into processors... my mistake, depending on what i can get at the above price, I'll go that way...

Right now you can't overclock C2D's and CD's.

I dont know much about laptop processors, so why not? The guy I work with said he just did a firmware upgrade to a faster processor as a method to overclock, or so my understanding of what he said went...

P.S. I am working like 70 hrs a week right now so I may not always make tons of sense... sorry!
