I have a Toshiba Satellite X205-S9349 Laptop which I bought new in August 2007. It worked very well until today. It will not boot up now:
When I press the On-Off button, the Hard Drive light comes on for a few seconds then turns off. I hear the fan or hard drive spinning. The screen stays black. This occurs when the power cord is plugged in or not. I removed the battery and reinserted it. Symptoms are the same.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try removing the ram and reinstalling 1 stick and then the next to see if its bad ram.
