    Hello,
Does anybody know why my laptop takes about 5-10 minutes to start up? It's only 3 months old. I'm also having trouble burning dvds, can anybody help. First laptop I ever owned.

    Thanks

do you have alot of programs starting up (in your system tray) when you start the pc?
If you do these will be consuming memory and make start up slow, though 5 -10 minutes sounds alot.

How much memory do you have in your system?

theres alot of crap that toshiba loads when you get a new laptop, Aol, AntiVirus software trail, ms office trails.. stuff like that thats pointless, go to Control panels and then Add and Remove Software, Remove anything that you don't use or reconzied, Don't delete anything thats says toshiba on it, as those are certain drivers. Next get into the system properties, click on advance, and then settings for preformance, Next click on advance then under virtual memory set it at 1500 on min and max click ok... just a few thoughtful tips, Msconfig using the run command in the startmenu can show you everything booting up

What kind of trouble burning DVDs? If you have a mash!ta (sp?) drive they are notoriously unreliable, alternatively to get high write speeds you need more ram than you might expect.

What model do you have and what are the specs?
