Just got my Qosmio X775 laptop fixed after it was decommissioned for about 4 months due to a faulty motherboard problem... and now i am REALLY pissed at Toshiba. First my laptop broke after about a month of usage and now after getting repaired it comes back with a fully replaced motherboard and NO DETECTED NVIDIA GPU. -_- These guys really know how to people off... any help would be appreciated but mostly share your experiences with their service and tell me if their is any hope for Toshiba.

If I read it correctly, Toshiba had your laptop for 4 months while they were repairing it? If so, contact Toshiba and push them to extend your warranty to reflect this.

Sorry to hear your experience, but the above is why I never send in my laptop for a depot repair and always pay for the On-Site technician [repairer comes to you after a few days]. It's also worth noting the repairs are conducted by a company called "ServiceNET"; they also do repairs for HP, Lenovo, Newegg and some others.

Keep us updated with any news. Hopefully Toshiba will be able to sort things out for you.

Ughh... the problem is that i live all the way in the pacific and the warranty is only viable in the united states. I had it shipped all the way there just to receive it without a gpu. -_- Is there some way i could check if the gpu is there through bios or something? And i already disassembled my laptop multiple times (i was able to reapply thermal paste before) but after i got it back i can't get the screws off the heat sink anymore so i can't check if it's physically there. :(

Can you see it under device manager? If a yellow flag then it should be just a driver.

The part about the heat pipe screws really bothers me. Either they are being turned the wrong way or they were loc-tight-ed?

GPU or not the heat pipe should just lift off..send us pictures?

It's not in device manager. I checked it every time i turned it on and prayed to God it would appear but it never did. T__T

I tried turning the screws both ways but it wouldn't budge...

I would but I find it a hassle to have to reassemble it again. But all i could say is that i have tried and tried to remove the screws and lift that damned heat sink off the GPU that may or may not exist.

I guess they had a FNG that worked on it. Any QC tags on your repair sheet?

I would carefully put it back together and do as Alex suggested. The GPU could have been pin dammaged or cracked. No way tell them you had it apart as that is instant voided warranty. You have an MXM GPU, look at usnroberts take down and see if you can see the edges of the card around the edge of the heat pipe fwiw.

My warranty is up in 20 days (evil laugh) so still looking for the cheap i7 CPU upgrade.

    GL!

Hey i saw the edges of the card and have now put it back together. But is it possible that the silver square thing (not sure what to call it) in the middle of the card where they place the thermal paste has been removed? Or is that soldered unto the card?

It's a safety aluminum rim so you don't accidentally knock the core off the BGA socket

    It's not the heatsink
