The first time I unplugged my AC adapter after replacing my battery (showing fully charged) my screen went black - no power. I plugged the AC adapter back in and things seemed to work fine. I tried again only I shut it down first removed the AC adapter and tried to boot up - it started the process but went black again before getting to the login screen.

Finally, I removed my wireless network card and booted under battery power and it booted up just fine and worked just like it should. When I plugged in the card the screen went black - no power.

Card works fine with AC adapter.

Is there any way this could be related to the new battery? or is there some other explaination?

Is this new battery a original Toshiba Battery or a aftermarket one?

It doesn't say Toshiba on it - I got the battery through Circuit City's Firedog Service battery replacement. I went online and printed out a prepaid shipping label and received the replacement shipped from Federal Warranty Service Corp. The battery's serial number is C118E110290392.

One other possibility occurred to me today. I don't think I tried using any battery old or new since I updated XP to service pack 3. Is this another possible source of the problem with my Netgear wireless network card?
