I have a Toshiba Tecra A8 - that had Vista on it ... hmmm

It was totally useless for my work - so I have had to put XP SP2 etc etc back on the machine - so that it could be used..(wonder what makes Microsoft release something 2 years ahead of when it should be??????????)

Anyhow - now - I am trying to find the patch???... the program..???? ... the little file - that I can install on this now XP Tecra A8 - so that the hard disc protection will take place...

I have loaded 1.00.08f - version on the machine at the moment ... it maybe working - but I do not know... as it does not notify anymore...????

...does the program - show when it is working - (as in Vista) - or does it just work in the background ...???? or is there a really special file necessary for this...???

Anyone can help... - [email protected]....

    Kindest Regards
    recneps.....

I've own a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 which is within the same family of the Tecra A8 (like chasis and some components). Mine came with XP initially before Vista came out and even though I was given the Vista Express Upgrade disc and I refused to use it so I understand where you coming from.

The Toshiba HDD Protection program should work in XP as I got it fine on my laptop regardless of patch number. Make sure you got the XP version and not the Vista version which may cause your woes. First uninstall it if you got it on, and download the utility from here - http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/Tecra/ta8_spro120/xp/hddprot/hddprot-xp-10108f-en.zip

It should install and may require reboot. If it does do it, then go to the control panel and search for the utility. Also go to Run and type in msconfig. Go to the startup tab and it should also appear there which means that its working. Hope this helps.
