I have a Tecra M2 that has flickering screen as well as like stripes different colors one next to the other. Upon entering windows I am barely able to see the desktop but can check the reslolution and it's set on Low 4. Tried to set it on 16 or 32 bit but it will not work.

I did notice that this happens upon bootup too so it has to be more than a driver issue as it would be perfect until it gets into windows.

    Any help?

mm.... this sounds like this may be failing

[IMG] Could be pinching on a wire causeing it to eather lose power of picture??? Is the backlight flickering or is the whole picture it self flickering?

One of 2 things, Wireing harness or the Fluorescent Lamp, The Wireing harness is pretty easy to fix, You can get a new one for $26 bucks

    Part # :p000397290

Try messing with the lcd harness, see if you can produce the same effects your seeing

Internal LCD is blank or completely white - problem with system board, not LCD panel

    Issue

The internal LCD may show one or the other of these failure symptoms: it may be either entirely blank, or entirely white.

An external monitor attached to the computer will function properly.

    Resolution

Replace the system board (the primary system PCB).

Even though the symptoms appear to indicate a failure of the LCD panel, in this case (for these models) the symptoms are almost certainly due to a problem with the video driver chip on the system board.

The affected parts have been changed in production, starting in September / October 2004.

Whole screen flickering. Flickering when booting up too. No white or dark screen. LCD has been replaced by me one time before. Just need time to open it up and check things again.

Please read my first post about the display settings. Why will it not allow me to change from LOW 4 settings to higher 16 or 32 even when nvidia driver installed but not recognized?

Sounds like your GPU is going out on you. Have you been keeping your fan clean?

The cooling guide has an excellent section on doing just that.
