Strongly recommended: Cal Micro in San Jose, California

Toshiba.com listed Cal Micro as the top-rated (4-star) repair center in my state. I definitely had a 4-star experience.
The business looks to be run by a family, but it's definitely not a casual operation. They listened to me without interrupting or showing skepticism. They put stickers on each of the accessories I turned over (ac adapter, restore disks, etc) to ensure all parts would be associated and returned at the end of the repair. They did not needlessly re-format the boot disk. As a local, I was able to drop off and pick up my machine and save shipping time. They even let me in at 5:03 PM on a 5 PM closing day. I like these guys a lot.
Bottom Line: under a week to replace the defective GeForce 8600M GT display subsystem on my Satellite x205 SLI1.

I had a great experience with Toshiba repair. I called tech support for a noisy fan (X200 gaming laptop, I blew a fan I was not surprised by this). Took maybe 5 minutes to go over the issue with a tech, he did the normal procedure that techs have to do (power cycle etc.) Gave me the info to the certified Toshiba repair in my area (Southern Ontario Canada). The friendly staff looked at the laptop when I dropped it off, labeled each part (Really just the power supply). They estimated a week (business days) were done in 3 and replaced all fans (only one was had a broken bearing) and called me to pick it up. Runs like a charm since then, and why I will always go with Toshiba. Buying an X300 (with dual 9800s sli) as soon as it hits Canada.
