Hi I have a toshiba tecra te2100 laptop, it has wireless, on the left side theres even a wireless switch, but I formated my computer so I have a feeling that the driver is gone or something, but anyways I can only connect to the internet using a ethernet cord, there is no wireless connection settings or anything. Can somebody tell me what to do? I tried the toshiba drivers website and no go.

Check what brand and stuff your wireless card is. Go to the manufacturer's wesbite and you'll be able to find it there.

When you format you delete everything that's on your computer. That's why you should download any drivers you need (wireless/ethernet, etc) and put them on a cd/usb/etc.
Anyways you need to find the type of wireless card you have. Go under device manager (google it if you don't how) and look around for your wireless. Then check the toshiba website again (make sure you download the one for Windows 2000 OR XP [whichever version you have], it's the wireless lan driver for mini-pci), if not then check out the manufacturer's website and get it from there.

It'll be under the network adapter section. Use pic to help you find it, it's in Vista so just try to map it out into your OS. Let me know if you still can't find it.

OK, I'm kinda stumped here so, unless you've tried this out already. Right click on both the Intel and WAN (all of the options) and try to update the driver. Remember to plug in your ethernet cable so it can look online. If you have already tried this then you should check into the adaptec thing, google it and see if you can find a site where you should be able to find a driver.

I did find the site, and I did find the driver they had for my version, but it's only Windows CE, Windows NT, and its 4.0 or below, or windows 98 I believe, or 95, I forget, but no windows XP. Maybe the adaptec isn't a wireless network card because when I put it in my PC card theres no end that sticks out, like where the wireless would be coming out of. I have seen other wireless network laptop cards, and they always have this little thing at the end and thats where the wireless gets sent out of, and this one doens't have it. Instead it has some sort of type of USB port, but the width is larger.

I think you're thinking of an expresscard slot. I believe there was a piece of software that found and outputted all the drivers you need to update. Offhand, I think it was Belarc Advisor but I'm not sure, you may want to look into this.
    PS.
    1. I should have asked this sooner, have you been able to connect to wireless networks before you reinstalled?
    2. If there's multiple models of your laptop (4 from checking the site I think) make sure you choose the right one. Then download each driver having to do with wireless (in case you downloaded the wrong one earlier since some models have different brands of wireless cards). It's trial and error to find which one you have, then you know for next time.

If you can't follow #2, post me the model of your laptop and I'll find the drivers for you.
    Happy sleeping time.

I have like downloaded every driver, and I got the computer from someone so I don't know if it did or not. My laptop, is a American Toshiba Tecra TE2100,if you cant find the right drivers for me that be great! But I am pretty positive that the whole built in wireless is more of an option and I need to buy a Wireless Laptop Network card. But if you think I have wireless built in and just need a driver then okay, I hope you can find the right driver!

Try what blondie said first as it may work.

By the model I meant the specific version, it should be one of these:
    PT210C-002DV
    PT210C-082KK
    PT210C-082L1
    PT210C-08F3P

You will find one of these numbers on the bottom of the laptop, it'll be the model #. Then go back to the Toshiba site and choose that model on the download page.
...drivers&download->notebook->te->2100->(your version from the 4 above)
Then download that wireless driver. Enjoy.

I downloaded her driver, and on the back of ym laptop, I only see part number, and serial number, also I went to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp and at the bottom of tecra is Te2300, no te2100. I installed that driver the girl gave and all it did was download, and it doesn't do anything after it's not installed.

Go to toshiba.ca, that's where I found those options above. Yeah, for some reason they're not on the .com site. I've got to go to work in a couple of minutes, should be back before 6 if my previous answer doesn't do it.

I found out how to get the .com version of my laptop. But the drivers they have are the old ones, and also this Toshiba is American not Canadian, but all wait for you to get back.

The only thing you're going to get are old drivers since the laptop is old and likely now, unsupported. So download what's there and try it out.

Yeah, I knew they didn't have your model. I was just trying to get you as close to yours as I could find. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But do what notyou said and try the ones on Toshiba Canada. A lot of the time, they do work on American models. ;)
