    Hi guys,

Any help would be much appreciated. I tried 2 weeks ago to play Constantine on HD-DVD which is 5 channel DTS True HD audio. I installed the 174... driver from laptopvideo2go.com and went back to the original just to watch this movie.

It worked and now i've installed a later version of the video card driver for the 8700m GT, and then rolled back to the original driver from the toshiba website just to watch the HD-DVD....but now its only showing the 2 channel audio, i've tried playing a different HD-DVD and dvd rips, blu ray rips and Hd-dvd rips...they all have 2 channel.

Im connecting the laptop via HDMI cable to Denon 3808 AVR, 5 speakers and 1 sub.... its showing just 2 channel all the time when i connect it through HDMI and the laptop.

I've got a ps3 which i connect via HDMI as well to the Denon 3808 and it has DD or DTS showing.

I've installed the latest driver (video and sound) from the Toshiba product support website, and it still has just the 2 channel audio.

    Any suggestions?

Can you manually set your surround sound to what you want? My Sony Bravia doesn't show any surround when my x205 is connected but if I set it to what I want I.E. Dolby Pro Logic II it will play the movie in 5.1.

If I remember correctly, Realtek HD audio codec on X200/205 is 2 channel only.

It won't output 5.1 through HDMI, you need to use a TOSLINK? cable. Search for x205 surround and you'll dig some threads up explaining exactly what you need for 5.1 out.

Also, this is not true... Pro Logic II uses signal processing to emulate 5.1 with only 2 channels of data, so it is not true 5.1

Pro Logic is not 5.1. Its not even a digital encoding.
Its just algorithm to add some quite limited "surroundness" (single center and single rear) to usual analog stereo audio.
If you will play 5.1 audio via ProLogic, it will never play in the way it actually recorded on 5.1 track and how it was intended.
