Just got my new X205 with the 2 HD's and I cannot figure out how to raid 0 the drives? some reviews say it does some dont.
Can I raid 0 the drives to install Vista on? or do I have to use Vista Raid After the install for a D: drive?
Thanks

The X205 don´t support RAID... there is no RAID controler on X205´s motherboard. Maybe with an internal RAID controler pci-e card... but I don´t know if that exists.

I know I might be a little late, but i just got a x205-sli2, then upgraded to 7200 rpm hdds and 4gb dual-channel ram. anyway, our laptops have an ICH8M southbridge chipset. This chipset is capable of RAIDing, however, Toshiba has left this capability out of the BIOS. According to Toshiba, there will likely be a BIOS flash update that enables the RAID. Anyway, the inexistence of a motherboard-based RAID controller doesn't mean that you can't RAID. What you can do, is set up a software based RAID. When you install windows, delete all partitions. On one drive, create a small 10 gig partition to install windows on (windows doesn't like to be installed on striped volumes). Now you can use the disk management tool in administrative tools to create a volume that spans multiple disks (a striped RAID). You can find instructions for this on MSDN.com and all over the web. Of course a software raid is slower than a hardware raid, but is still faster than single-drive volumes. Now, once you've created your striped volume, be sure to install all your programs on this striped volume. I would also recommend saving all of your music, movies, pics and stuff on a non-striped volume. A good idea would be to create equally sized partitions on each drive that is large enough to hold windows and your media. It also makes the volume stretched accross the two drives the same size on each drive, increasing the RAID performance. Just remember to leave the bulk of your drives unpartitioned when you install windows, that way, you can use disk management to create the partition accross multiple drives (striped raid). Hope this helps, find more specific instructions before you start, though.
