For the people who didn't install manually from microsoft's 400MB pack on their website.

The download on WU is around 66MB
I just installed it, took 1 hour 30 mins'ish to complete.

If it doesn't appear, try installing the Synaptic PS/2 device update first on WU.

Awesome I'm upgraded internet seems to be faster, funny thing was I had the symantec upgrade sitting in there for like over 2 weeks, didn't wanna load it and was just waiting for Sp1 to pop up. If you didn't post this I'd be waiting forever. thanks

Is Vista still a POS :)

Seriously, my machine performs almost every function (mostly games) twice as fast in XP, and I'll likely never try Vista again (although I stupidly bought several copies back when it first came out)

they did a direct comparison at a gaming site... thread was in the gaming section somewhere.

    Their conclusion?
XP does NOT have a noticeable overall advantage in gaming anymore period.
(this doesn't mean that ALL games run as well in vista as XP or vice versa)

    Me personally?

XP still has a 5% (so neglible but present) advantage or so...

the line between XP and vista has diminished to practically nothing. if u want an extra 0-2 frames per second i guess u can stay with xp

never tried XP but thinking it's a more mature operating system as opposed to vista which is young and needs to work out the bugs then in time when it's on Vista SP3 it'll be performing way better than XP SP3. Just to think it's only on SP1 and tests say it's on par with XP SP3 now.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but when I got my X205 new, Bioshock was NOT playable, even in Directx9 mode with a lower resolution. When I got XP up and running , the game works great. Same story with Valve games (Half Life 2, Portal, etc)

I tried shutting down Aero, setting everything to performance, but Vista just didn't work well on my machine.

I've heard some people have done clean installs of Vista with better success, but I like XP and it's compatible with everything I use.

Again, sorry to Hijack, but wanted to give some data for my remarks....

I've still got the stock install of Vista and Stock video Drivers, all Steam games run fine.
boot-up is just over a minute.

Updated BIOS and everything available direct from Toshiba site.
Doubt I will be heading to XP on this machine.

I haven't tried a whole lot of games yet, but I still have the stock setup (Vista, no video driver upgrades) on my X205-9800 and everything so far has worked fine (Crysis at Medium or with some higher settings, games like Battlestations Midway, Pariah and other FPS shooters).

I was hard-core XP before this machine, but have found Vista to be fine (much to my surprise) for the most part and I have no plans to put XP on this rig.
