I did a search and couldn't really find anything, so question is

    is it SATA/IDE, 1.8" or 2.5" ?

I don't really want to open it up to find out :p , and even if i opened it up I wouldn't be able to tell the difference :D

most if not all modern computers nowdays uses SATA. laptop uses 2.5" with the exception of Macbook Air (1.8"), and maybe some other niche "mobile devices".

Use Device Manager to give you the HDD model number, then Google for the specs. PATA and SATA versions of the same HDD have different model numbers.
