Toshiba Qosmio X500-S1801 Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-Ray/DVDRW, 18.4" Display, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, Red/Black at TigerDirect.com
My Gateway FX-6860 just crapped out, looking for a solid replacement.
Is this laptop any good? Are Toshiba's built good/run solid?
Looking for RAID setup and I'd need to find a WUXGA+ screen for it, any suggestions?
Thanks!

That laptop's screen is not WUXGA. It is 1680 x 945, a substandard resolution for such a large laptop.
Toshiba is an extremely good brand. You'll find that they'll be above most other brands like HP and Dell in terms of reliability, but their customer support falls short. That said, I have never had to deal with customer support, since I have extended warranty.
Anyway, at that price, you can find better specs and performance. I would suggest that you look into the Asus G73JH (the models with the full HD panel, being A1, A2, X1, X2, X3), and see if you like them. They also aren't as gaudy in terms of aesthetics.
If you need a 16:10 panel, you will be hard pressed to find one. They are generally only found on higher end business model notebooks, unfortunately. -
Yea I actually got the G73JH-X2. I over looked these asus ones.
And yes, very sad there isn't a better resolution, though this resolution isn't bad, I was just spoiled with the 1200p.
Thanks! -
yeah for that 18" screen it should have better resolution.. have fun with it
looks like a good machine anyhow
