These look like rock solid notebook and the specs seem to be really awesome for the price. Can anyone confirm how well built they are?

depends what you want to compare to. if compared to alienware then these x70 and x75 are flimsy. they are on par with msi and about average build. They are thinner then average for its power and specs. The screens are better quality then most in its class. the 7mm optical drive bay is a turn off. the hidden cpu is a turn off. 2 of 4 ram slots are hidden. qosmio x70 best feature is its price. It is the least expensive in its class.

Search for Qosmio X75 overheating and see that people are having issues just browsing the web.

CEO just bought one of these against my advice and his screen if he moves it, it reboots completely.

They have dropped about $300 in price since the NVIDIA 8 series was released, but for me, i say no, spend your money elsewhere on better quality laptop.

Sorry but I take skepticism in that comments for the following reasons:
    1. search the same terms with most other models from other brands and you will find a trend
    2. x70 / x75 price can go from being very aggressive to not so much so, Toshiba direct has a reputation for this
    3. To date we have sold and serviced over 100 units of x70 / x75 and I am still waiting for 1 return due to overheating and as it happens we have had 0 returns for this model which pleases me duily. I define overheating as abnormally high temperatures relative to normal in this series some people have different definitions.
