    hello,

    I have a toshiba satellite a100
with ms vista corporate, the battery last about 1h30 and the screen was less bright when running on battery .
i change for vista ultimate and the battery is down after 10 minutes .. the screen is always bright even on battery

I can't find a setting in the power management for lowering display brightness when on battery.

    any help appreciated

I'm using Vista Home Premium but I would think that getting to your display settings should be the same so go to -> Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options.

Here you will be able to change the settings of the display. For example if your computer is set to "Balanced" on the "Plans shown on the battery meter" then if you click the "Adjust the display brightness" on the left hand side this will change the brightness for your computer for this power setting.

There is another way to change the brightness but this is only temporary. Go to -> Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options. On the left hand side bottom you click on "Windows Mobility Center" when the dialog box opens up there should be at the top left "Display brightness" tile were you can adjust the display brightness.

Also you can just use your "Fn" key and use the F6 and F7 keys to adjust your display brightness but this would also only be a temporary change, hope this helps you I have a Toshiba A105 laptop.
