    Hey guys, first post...

I'm probably late to the party, but I have an a215, which started having power cable issues, obviously a jack issue, because i would have to wedge a dvd case under the cable to get it to light the power cable jack...

Well, that quick fix finally stopped working, so i decided to take it apart. I was suprised to see that the jack is soldered to the board, but a long wire... At this point i hadn't pulled the mobo totally. I bought a replacement dc harness, thinking i could snap it into the board. But when i pulled it, the plastic peice of the harness is glued to the board!? So i cut the wires to splice the new one in. Now it doesn't work at all... no lights, whatsoever. But, if i sit the mobo on the battery to make a connection. It fires up!!! What could be wrong???

have you damaged or shorted the board where the old harness is attached? have you checked the area for signs of overheating or shorting out?

have you ensured your splice is sound and the wires are the correct way round?

    pics may help!
