After a bios flash gone bad
I guess have the following options:
send laptop back toshiba for repair
    buy a new motherboard
    get the bios chip replaced
I am trying to ascertain if the chip can be removed or if I need to send in the entire motherboard.

I am stumped as to the location of the chip.
I checked out the tutorials at
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/index.htm
    and am still stumped.
The tutorial pages are awesome by the way.

Where is the chip and is it soldered?

    Specs:
    Computer model is Toshiba a215 s4747 psaegu-oowoou
    Toshiba part number: k 0000 53710
Toshiba Laptop / Notebook System Board: M/B ASSY RS UEHXSW7.P/N:46148251L64 (service); 46148251L14 (system)

I can post photos of the board.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks much,
    aurora

hey ive come across this forum thanks to google and have had the same problem with the same laptop model
everything was done right and correctly by cd not even in windows.
and i think i am just out of waranty.
theres many other methods of doing this but u need a usb floppy. and the key combo that works on these latops is
    Fn+n
just to save you many hours of trial and error plus research.
if youve already fixed your problem please reply or send me an email
    mines happned yesterday.
n got it sitting dead right next to me :(
trying to figure corectyl the usb thumb drive method and hope it works, if not the usb floppy drive and or the removing of the rom chip if and only if it is removable.

    thanks in advance

I've treid every key combo in every article I could find.
    Tried from CD, USB etc.

    This looks very interesting.
    Thanks for the link.

I don't see any reference to award or ami in the file documentation.
How do I know which bios I have?
The files do have the extension "bin"

this toshiba has pheonix bios which to my understanding is partners with Award
so the award bios method should do it.
let me know with a quote reply if it works for you, beause ive been trying the usb thumb drive way, if it works for you then ima have to buy a usb floppy.
let me know u uve figured it out cus im trying also and find it hard to do. if u get it right let me know step by step
    much thanks.

    also explains the .bin files

I have to find time to put it back together. I took it apart to send in the bios chip for reprogramming.

Wondering what was the outcome of all this? Did you get your A215 back in business?
