    Hi was was just wondering if anyone has tryed the Windows 7 Beta that was released resently and which drivers are compatable with it? It is due to stop working August 1st but I thought I might give it a test drive. I own a A215-S7462. Thanks in advance for your inputs!

    Hi bro
    I have an Qomsio x300-13o, I have tryed it out... I have tryed 64bit, Some vista 64 bit drivers work ok but, it was painfull... My suggestion to you is vista ulitimate 64 bit sp1 if you have 4gb ram or vista ultimate sp1 32bit of you have less then 4gb ram...

    Windows 7 still has the same kernel and uses the same drivers at Vista, so it should be an easy upgrade. It is basically a streamlined Vista but runs the same "guts"

    I istalled it on a 5 year old P4, and it ran pretty well with all of the "pretty stuff" turned off. If you aren't happy with Vista, and don't want to go back to XP, 7 should be a nice free OS until they shut it off.

    ......honestly I'm still very happy with XP, and My sli3 runs better with it. However, XP looks quite dated and Vista/7 will surely be on it sooner or later

    btw, that article doesn't seem to be for regular SLI like we have (2 identical GPU's), but hybrid combinations of a low-power GPU for normal use and a high power GPU for gaming etc. This technology is much newer than traditional SLI.

    Thank you all for your comments. I tryed windows7 and there is only a select few anti-viruses that work on it right now at a cost of anywhere between $30 and $50 dollars since windows7 is only good tll August 1st I decided to go back to winxp home and keep using my free Avast anti-virus, why waste the extra money lol. So i'm back to XP and running fine.
    thanks again

    @lonewolf0069: I triple-booted Win7 on my P200 (with Vista and linux) and I think it's great.

    As for your concern about anti-virus, the programs Win7 recommends (the ones for which you have to pay) are NOT the only ones compatible with Win7. Avira Anti-vir works with Win7 (that's what I am using) and it's free. One of the programs Win7 recommends (AVG) has a free version available on their website as well, so please don't avoid Win7 just because you think you need to pay for Anti-virus support.

    I have good backups of my data, and a fresh XP image for my system, so I can reinstall in under an hour. SO I went ahead and installed the Windows 7 beta on my X205-Sli3. So far, I'm unimpressed. It is still sluggish (like Vista) compared to XP. Transferring all of my data from my backup (on my D Drive) took forever, completely locking up one time. Also, IE8 is locking up randomly.

    I'm using the newest Nvidia drivers that are "signed" (181.20), and Sli is working fine, although I doubt I'll keep it installed long enough to game on it.

    There is quite a bit of customization available, but you don't get Movie Maker, Photo gallery etc without making a separate download.
