Is it possible that 2 new toshiba computers of the same model ( in my case a100-0fh) can have a difference in speed, some are faster than others? Or have different parts? Because when I plug the same internet cable in boths it makes different sounds :p

internet plug into computer makes sounds? sweet. No, identical models will give identical speed. Unless one is some how defective.

As far as build quality - pretty much all the model lines are made the same. For exapmle, the entire A100 series is made the same, reguardless if you paid $800 for a low-end one or customized a $2000 one.

Funny thing is that I've seen top of the line A100s with the core duo 2400 with an obvious defect sitting next to a $600 Celeron M model that was almost perfect.

I think I know what you mean. I've had three A100-SK4's and they had different sounding fans....one was really loud and annoying and 2 of the 3 had noticeable HD's while one was completely silent. One also was not glued properly and make a "clicking" when I picked it up because the seal was not adhered.

Also one SK4 had a bit of a permanent smudge mark on the silver paint on palm rest.

Build quality is ok, but not great. The good thing is that all screens were perfect.

All left palm rests "creak" too from cheap building material.

Mine seems to be not so bad esteticly just the stickers were applied by a drunk asian worker..it's funny...the fan and hdd seems to be normal. I noticed a small difference of the cpu after the initial setting and I'm not sure if i'm paranoying or it's really slower...

You say that you 'had'...you were not satisfied and you sold them or...

Are those differences in assembling caused problems to you?

Yes, I exchanged them for various reasons. Mostly because i'm very picky when I spend nearly $1000.

I went through 3 or 4 notebooks before finding a decent one too... Even the one I have now isn't perfect, but I gave up. Now I know that if I want good quality I either have to buy a thinkpad, or spend 2000$.

I know what you mean. I think I finally find one that IS perfect! i've even noticed they Toshiba use different screens in the A100's within the same model! One type of screen you could apply just a bit of pressure and see major LCD effects all over whereas others were pretty risilient to that.

Also noticed that the 100 gig HD in the A100-OFH is SILENT, and the 80 gig in the A100-SK4 is pretty loud.
