just replace my HD on my Toshiba A105-S2081. Unfortunately, never did an express media player back-up. Can someone tell me were to find a copy or image? Will be appreciated. Thanks

You will probably have to contact Toshiba on this one as the Expres media player is based on linux and will probably need a bootable disc to re-install it.
-
It's either that, or you'll have to go back to your old HD and see if there is a recovery partition, which may contain the needed software.
-
The media player should be on the recovery DVD. When you boot from the recovery DVD, you should have 2 options:
1. reinstall express media player
2. reinstall the OS
If its not on the recovery DVD, you should have a separate CD for it. You can try to boot from the recovery DVD and check if you have an option for restoring the media player. I believe that the express media player software has to be installed first, before you install the OS. Not sure 100%, never tried to install it backward. -
I am with the exactly same problem, with my M115-3094.
I run the TOSHIBAs Recovery from recovery and applications/drivers DVD that come's with my M115-S3094 (DVD code is TK145/GMAE01045010) then I lost the Express Media Player to.
I selected the recovery method "Recover to out-of-box-state", with suppose to let my computer exactly like the 1st time I used, right? But I can't play DVD or CD without start Windows. The DVD key turns the computer on and start windows.
After search the TOSHIBA's support site for M115 and Express Media Player I founded the following "help":
http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaS...sliceId=&dialogID=8678160&stateId=0 0 8676093
Well, the M115 isn't listed in that topic, but probably is the same case because the only disk that comes with my notebook is the Recovery DVD, and this one doesn't have the Express Media Player (I tried 1.000 times!).
But I CAN'T DO THE BACKUP NOW, since I run the recovery This is a very disappointing situation
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance,
Marcelo. -
When I got my Toshiba M-55, it had an icon on the desktop called Recovery Disc Creator (media express player) and I made my backup from that. If it's not on your desktop, check in c:\programfiles\sonic\recordnow and see if it's there.

i have proplem same for phernandez. http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSu...Id=0 0 8676093 -> link die. pls check again.. I using Toshiba A105 - S4084, but i resetup WindowXP Pro XP2. Therefore, i don't use Toshiba express media player.
Pls send by email: [email protected] or chat by Yahoo: khoai_design.
Thank's!!! -
I finally solved my problem!
After a full restore using the DVD that comes with my M115, the icon to 'Recovery Disc Creator (Express Media Player)' was back in my desktop.
So, I made the dam CD backup.
With the Express Media Player backup CD in hands, all you will need is delete all partitions. Then FIRST use the backup CD to install de media player.
After reinstall it, you can use the restore DVD, but select "don’t change partitions". If you reset partitions the restore software will remove the player again.
Sorry my bad english

I made an iso image, compacted w/zip and uploaded. Certainly is the latest version available today, because the M115 was released recently, and my guess is: this backup will work with any Toshiba compatible with Express Media Player.
Use the following link and password to download the file:
Link: http://discovirtual.terra.com.br/vd.cgi?+_wi=1163878802-32441-315700&_we=13
download password: C295F5AB (will work for about 7 days)
You can delete all partitions before start the process, then simple use this backup CD before recovery. And, when running Toshiba's recovery, select "don't change partitions". I really don’t understand why Toshiba don't put an option "recovery system and express media player", like HP does…
Let me know if solved your problem.

thanks for your helps,
my problem now is the player cannot play CD/DVD without Start windows (power off) but the internet button work properly (connected)...
i need your share to optimize my player..
regards, -
You can't start with recovery DVD: you must use the image I shared in my last post to start the process.
That image will make an linux partiton at the end of hard drive, and install the linux player (Toshiba Express Media Player). After install the player, you can run the DVD that comes with M115 to do a system recovery. But remember to select:
1- when run player's backup CD (shared in last post): delete all partitions (if available), then select Install player;
2- when run toshiba recovery DVD: Recovery Factory default -> then select Recovery without changing the hd partitions
The key will work to play cd/dvd withou start windows.

Hello mcunha71, i'm having the same problem with my toshiba m105-s3051. I've tried doing what you did, a full recovery and then burning the recovery disc for the express media player. The problem is that when i try to burn the disc it says, file has been deleted or can not be found. I think something happened to the partition. Like Gallahad, i would also greatly appreciate that iso for the disc, if you could get it. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I don't have the m115 or the .ISO anymore. I sell it to a friend.
I will ask him the disk to make another ISO. As soon I get it, I will reply with the new link to download.
Regards. -
Thank you mcunha71, i'll be on the look out.

Hello mcunha71, first off, thank you very much for the iso image. I was very excited to try it, sadly something is still not working. when i booted off the cd is loaded, started doing something and then gave me the following message: "Installation errors: Some errors occurred during installation. This may be due to incorrect system ID or insufficient hard drive space please try again."
Do you have any idea what this is about? Thank you. -
Here is an iso compliments of a friend of mines m105.
If the error you are getting says insufficient hard drive space or something like that then you most likely just need to format the drive before installing (I don't think this cd has a built in format utility so you'll need to format the drive first with a windows cd or something like that).
I'll have to clean all my files off and then i'm going to give it a try.
Here's a guide (which suggests that the EMP has a format utility built in) -
Hey gallahad, sorry it took me so long to reply to your post. First off thank you very much for the iso. Let me fill you in on what happened. I tried to perform the recovery using you iso and i was still getting the same error as before. So i went ahead and did a full format of my hard drive, deleted all partitions and overwrote all sectors. Still no luck. I called toshiba and since it was my 100th time calling them they asked me to send it to them. I got it back today and this is what the tag says, wrong bios. I had 5.1 (which i installed because a toshiba representative told me to). I guess 5.1 is only for vista. So all i had to do was set my bios back to 2.5 and use your iso to perform the recovery. After all this, my express media player is finally working, thanks for your help.

To salvicrashdrive: I was unlucky to loose the link that mcunha71 upload so could you upload and share link to me by email [email protected]? I am really appriciate about that.
look forward your news
Thanks alot -
I deleted all the data and partitions from my hard drive without making a back-up of the Express Media Player because I thought the Recovery CD comes with it. I have downloaded and burned the .iso files provided by others using RecordNow and have set my computer to boot from the CD first. However, nothing happens and computer resumes to booting Windows.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there an easier way to get the Express Media Player file? Thanks. -
AFAIK, I think that you have to install the Express Media Player before you install Windows
-
Okay. My aunt also has a Toshiba laptop, so I used her to create the Express Media Player Recovery CD. However, everytime I try to install it (even after deleting all partitions and overwrite all sectors), I keep getting an installation error message: "incorrect system ID or insufficient hard disk space." I know for sure that I have enough space since I have deleted and re-partitioned my hard drive over and over again.
Does anyone know what the error message means? What can I do to rectify this problem? Thanks. -
Sounds to me like hers is a different model and it will only work on that.
-
Hello, I was doing some research on the Express Media Player on Google and stumbled across your inquiry, it should be on the recovery DVD that came with your computer, if not, here is a URL where you can download it. http://www.soft32.com/download_182983.html

I'm curious if anyone has an image for perhaps a u205 (or other model I'm willing to give it a shot!)
My recover image gives me this error:
/!\
An error occurred during recover of "Express Media Player".
Please recover the image again from the beginning.
Press any key to exit.
So here I am... I tried reburning the original iso from a backup of the drive... of course deleted partitions first no dice... I'd like to try a fresh copy of the disk... hopefully from copy that has worked for others! -
One of the other posters here sent me the iso file. I have it stored on my server if anyone is interested please contact me and I'd be happy to share the link!

Hello everyone, I have an M105-S3051. I'm not sure if anyone still needs the recovery cd for the Express Media Player, but just in case here it goes. This is the original iso file that came with my laptop after I sent it back to Toshiba for repairs. By the way do not unpack the iso, burn the image directly to cd.

Hello everyone ,
Im experiencing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which was pre-insalled with Windows XP media center edition
and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.
I had previously done a clean Vista installation on it, then I decided to revert back to XP with my recovery DVD. I did the same procedures of first installing Express Media Player from Backup, and
then installing XP from Windows XP recovery dvd from Toshiba.
The steps included:
1- Deleted partitions from Express media player recovery disk
2- Installed express media player
3- Recovered Xp from Recovery DVD, by selecting "Recover without changing Partitions"
Everything went very well......But now after shutting down my laptop as I press the Express Media Center button,
The "Express Media Player" logo appears on the screen after loading for 5 seconds laptop shutdowns,
I tried to open it again but again the logo apeared for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutsdown....
Can anyone help on this strange issue..????? -
please any help would be gr8ly appreciated

Hi!!
I have the same problem that you had with your laptop, I replaced my HD on my Toshiba A105-S4344 and I did not make express media player back-up. Can you say how you fixed your problem to me?. I tried with the express media player recovery cd and when the Setup file is being decompressed, it sent me the next error: "error reading header after processing 0 entries", I think that this is for the same case, now I know that I had to do a backup before!.
Thanks for your help! -
Hi GCHEEK!!!
I need the same file if you can sent me it, or say me where find it, I thank you in advance. My laptop is A105-S4344. My mail is [email protected]
