does anyone know a good program to control the speed of the fan in toshiba notebooks. i use Speedfan but it doesnt seem to detect any fan inside the notebook even though it has 2 fans installed.
Is there a program similar to what is available for dell?

Nope. Unfortunately, you cannot control the Fan RPM in notebooks. SpeedFan is mainly for desktops. Notebooks have a Fan True Value Table, which states a specific fan RPM for a specific temp range.
The fan algorithm is hard-coded into the ACPI, and hidden from the end-user in the BIOS. -
Wrong.....Dell laptops have a Program, and so does sager, and alienware....but I too have been looking unsuccessfully to find a program to control my qosmio fan

I8kfanGUI hacks the BIOS strings in the registry to gain control over the fan. You won't see any programmer spending time on such software these days. Sager/Alienware fan control is probably provided by the OEM, by pressing Fn+F1 for 100% fan on and stuff.
There have been numerous threads on this topic in the past.
Bottom Line: You won't find such an app for a Toshiba, unless you start playing around with DOS Command Lines....
