I was looking in Circuit City in my constant battle between Dell and HP, and I HEARD A VOICE FROM ABOVE. *organ chime* Hallelujah!
But seriously, was looking through Circuit City in my obsessive laptop hunting, and I tried my first Toshiba with the Harman Kardon speakers.... My god... I think I had an orgasm when I heard it. Toshiba just won me as a customer and loyal follower.

Harman Kardon defiantly beats the Hp's Altec Lansing speakers, my bro has a dv2000/2500, and they sound so hollow compared to mine.
Of course there is absolutely no bass in lappys -

Really... Just because it had amazing sound quality with those Harmon Kardon speakers you fell in love with it... strange...
-
I've been mentally ripping myself apart over the laptop question. The clear pristine audio was like angelic chorus.
-
I have an X205 and definitely attest to the audio quality of these speakers. They're great, although they do tend to distort really badly at fully volume. Anything with bass starts to break up. Keeping the audio about 80 to 85% seems to be about optimal.

Hi Inkjammer,
I used to have this breaking problem with high pitch piano music...,
but hey, it's solved if you go into one of the Audio/Speakers settings tabs, and enable "Dolby Home Entertainment" - which is not enabled by default
Yap, the sound is simply amazing.
The surround effects come so much alive, filling up the whole room!
and listening to music, youtube or internet radio is a pleasure.

Hmm, the speakers on the Toshibas are very good, for sure, but they aren't enough to make up for the faults of rest of the notebook.
-
sorry what are the faults??
It's a very good laptop overall.

Yay Toshiba for the win!

The ONLY faults I can find for the x205-s9349 are:
-Bloatware... lots and lots of it... This is fixable with some of the end-users time and patience.
-Sticker... the stupid light blue "Battle Ready" sticker is difficult to get rid of... (anyone have some hints? I don't want to sit here picking at little pieces of light blue sticker thanks) This should be fixable as well.
-Large size, 9.2lbs... this isn't really a problem for me, but some people seem to think this is a downside. I think perhaps they need to hit the gym, but the weight and size is what it is...
Weighed against its solid performance/price, amazing sound, long battery life, HD-DVD, HDMI-out, hard disk space, cool, quiet, and comfortable usage, I'd say its in the top contenders for the 1500-2000 price range for desktop replacement.
Find me another laptop I can comfortably game on 25+% overclocked on my lap in my bed next to my wife while she sleeps for 4+ hours and I'll consider it a possible competitor. -
Hmm my distorted sound problems seems to come back with voices playing over internet radio stations at 50% level or more....
Anyone have a solution?

They have known since the introduction of the A215 model line that the screens randomly "go blank" and lock up....look at the reviews at bestbuy.com or circuit city.com...horrendous.
Then the 2nd generation comes out, and they are still blanking out! This is a known issue to Toshiba and for some reason...(Money, ignorance?), they still keep pumping out these defective units..
Reason I'm so ticked is for one, I wanted one but won't dare, two, it shows quality and respect isn't a priority any more...i believe it was maybe 4-5 years ago when they cared..
I wish they would at least address this issue. Peoples are not happy.
Thought I'd let that out...fell better now. -
@KernalPanic and any1 else :
To remove a sticker like that first peel most of the top surface .
Then with little oil dub the sticker and any residue , it will peel off easily .
Finally use alcohol to clean the surface . done .
I'd say the reviewers here weren't excited about the screen either which holds back as well . -
Yup, got the sticker off with a little elbow grease and patience...
Besides the viewing angles, I don't think I have seen a better looking screen save perhaps the Asus G1S or G2S and the clevo high res ones...
Perhaps I got lucky.... but this screen makes the Dell 1720 being configured on the bench look horrifyingly ugly.
Toshiba just won my soul.
